JAPAN FORM at Blå Sommar 2026
In collaboration with Andrea Tsang Studio — Blå Hallen, Höganäs, Sweden — 17–19 July 2026
This summer, JAPAN FORM was selected by the organisers of Blå Sommar to take part in the 2026 edition at Blå Hallen in Höganäs, southern Sweden.
For the three-day event, JAPAN FORM collaborated with Andrea Tsang Studio to create a shared installation, bringing together TOBIMATSU’s porcelain lighting with Andrea Tsang’s ceramic works and floral compositions.
Suspended at varying heights above a large communal table, a constellation of TOBIMATSU Porcelain Lights, handcrafted in Tokyo by Japanese designer and craftsman Hirotaka Tobimatsu, formed the centre of the installation. Below, Andrea Tsang’s sculptural ceramic vessels and flowers created a dialogue between porcelain, ceramics, light and nature.
The warm light passing through Tobimatsu’s unglazed porcelain revealed the subtle translucency and texture of each piece. The different forms and proportions of the lights created a rhythm above the table, while their soft illumination brought the individual elements of the installation together into a single atmosphere.
Presenting Japanese porcelain lighting in Höganäs, a place with a long tradition of ceramics and craftsmanship, gave the exhibition a particularly meaningful context.
With approximately 1,000 visitors per day, Blå Sommar became a lively meeting place for art, design and craft. Over the three days, we had the opportunity to introduce TOBIMATSU’s work and the vision of JAPAN FORM to a new audience, and to have many inspiring conversations with visitors, designers, artists and makers.
Our sincere thanks to Andrea Tsang Studio for the inspiring collaboration, to everyone who visited the installation, and to the organisers of Blå Sommar for selecting JAPAN FORM as part of this year’s curated programme.
